[Event] Moʻolelo of Mānoa: A Campus Huakaʻi (tour)

To be held every second Friday of the month starting January 2020 (tent.)

9-10:30 am

Meeting point: Kamakakūokalani Building, next to the library and Rainbow Shuttle stop (Hawaiian Studies)
Alakaʻi (tour guides): Punihei Lipe and Christina Higgins

Please join us on this huakaʻi (tour), where we orient ourselves to UHM through a Hawaiian lens. The tour invites faculty, students, staff, and community to learn about many of the largely untold histories of Mānoa, and it makes further suggestions for how UHM can work toward becoming an Aloha ʻĀina university. Read here for more information about the tour itself.

Below is a map of the UHM campus overlaid with the ʻili ʻāina, or land divisions, that honor the Hawaiian geography of the ahupuaʻa system of Waikīkī, where Mānoa valley is located. We will talk about this and more on the tour.

This huakaʻi is sponsored by the Native Hawaiian Place of Learning Advancement Office and the Multilingual, Mulitcultural Initiative at UH-Mānoa.
