Lee Tonouchi: AAAL Distinguished Public Service Scholar Award

Lee “Da Pidgin Guerilla” Tonouchi, author and Pidgin activist, recently received the 2023 AAAL Distinguished Public Service Scholar Award, nominated by Dr. Christina Higgins. Recipients of the award are non-AAAL members who raise public awareness of important social issues involving languages, and Lee promotes the importance of incorporating Pidgin in both creative and academic writing.
