Microsoft 365 Education at UH
Are you Eligible?
If you are an active UH faculty, staff or student affiliated with the following eligible campuses listed below, you are qualified to legally download and install the full version of the Microsoft 365 (formerly called Office 365). Please contact your campus for more information on how to get the installation software.
- UH West Oahu: Pueo ID
- Honolulu Community College: HCC ITS
- Leeward Community College (LCC faculty and staff ONLY): ITG Help Desk
- Windward Community College: Ka Piko Student Tech Support
In order for a campus to qualify, they are required to have an annually paid, campus-wide contract in place for all faculty and staff either through a Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES), Open Value Subscription Education Solutions (OVS-ES), or a school contract. After the campus is enrolled, all active faculty, staff and students may be eligible for the full version of Office, depending on the terms of the contract. Currently only the UHWO, HCC, LCC and WCC campuses are eligible.
For users that are not eligible:
Users that are not affilated with the campuses listed above do not have the legal right to the use the full, download version of the Microsoft Office 365 applications. If your campus is not listed, please contact your campus IT Department for verification. If you choose to download and install the software, you do so at your own risk. Microsoft periodically verifies the licensing and if found in non-compliance, you will be subject to purchase the subscription or full version of the software.
NOTE: There is no Administrator that manages accounts registered under the hawaii.edu email address for the free Office 365 Education program. By signing up for the free Office 365 Education program with your hawaii.edu address, you do so without any support from Microsoft and very limited support from UH. Any issues regarding your account, such as access to files, OneDrive, password resets, etc. can not be addressed.
Other Options for UH Users
- The UH Microsoft Licensing Program is available for UH users that have the ability to purchase licenses via UH departmental funds.
- Other Software Options - Microsoft Office Online, purchases by personal funds or alternative software to use.
