How to Apply

A complete application includes all of the following and should be submitted to the Graduate Division Application Portal: 

1. Preliminary application materials (Graduate Admissions Application Form, GRE/TOEFL scores, and transcripts).

2. Three letters of recommendation, and a writing sample.

The deadline for applications from U.S. citizens applying for admission is January 15 for the Fall Semester. Applications from international students are due January 1. Students are only admitted to begin in fall semesters.

The MA and PhD in comparative philosophy are recognized Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) regional graduate programs. Legal residents of WICHE member states and territories are eligible, on admission, to pay a reduced tuition of 150 percent of regular resident tuition. WICHE member states include: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Guam, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Palau, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
