Knowing the Future: Based on Yijingʻs Theory of Situational Meaning

Dr. Chung-ying Cheng, who earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University, joined the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 1963. He is the founding editor of the Journal of Chinese Philosophy, established in 1973. With forty-two books and hundreds of book chapters and peer-reviewed articles published in both English and Chinese, Dr. Cheng was honored as the “Light of China 中国之光” and received the Golden Man award for his contributions to promoting Chinese culture.

The lecture will be followed by a reception celebrating Dr. Chung-ying Cheng’s retirement and over 60 years of service to the University of Hawaiʻi.
