Employees receive 13 paid holidays per year, generous vacation and sick leave time, and many other types of leave. If you have any questions regarding the benefits listed below, please contact your departmental HR Representative

Holidays

The University of Hawaiʻi observes 13 holidays per year and 14 holidays during an election year.

Vacation Leave

Eligible employees earn 14 hours of vacation leave per month.

Sick Leave

Similar to vacation leave, eligible employees earn 14 hours of sick leave per month.

Family and Medical Leave

When you or a loved one experiences a serious health condition that requires time off from work, FMLA may be able to help.

Bereavement Leave

Employees are eligible for up to 3 days of paid bereavement leave after the death of an immediate family member.

Leave Sharing Program

Employees can donate or request for leave share assistance.

Leave Without Pay

Employees may be eligible for various leaves without pay.

Professional Improvement / Sabbatical Leave

The University encourages employees to further their professional growth to serve more effectively.

Other Leaves

Blood donation, bone marrow and organ donation, disaster relief, foster parent, jury duty, military, parent-teacher conference, and victim's leave.
