The purpose of workers’ compensation (WC) is to provide an employee who suffers a work-related injury or illness with medical care and to replace a portion of the employee’s lost wages while the employee is unable to work.

Employees may supplement the WC wage replacement benefits with available sick or sick/vacation leave to realize full-pay.

Most full-time and part-time employees who suffer from any injury or disease, which resulted from work or working conditions.  Eligible employees and volunteers, contact your HR Representative in your college.

Workers’ Compensation benefits for active employees are paid though UH Employment System.

If TRISTAR determines that lost work hours are eligible for WC Temporary Total Disability (TTD)/Temporary Partial Disability (TPD) benefits, the TRISTAR adjuster will send an email to the WC Coordinator authorizing the WC TTD/TPD (lost wages) for each payroll period that is needed to complete the Form 09.

Your WC Coordinator must complete and submit Form 09 to UH Payroll in accordance with the Payroll deadline schedule.
