Review of Established Programs
UH Regents Policy 5.201, Instructional Programs:
- requires a comprehensive review of all established programs at a minimum of once every seventh year at UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, and UH West Oʻahu and a minimum of once every fifth year at the UH Community Colleges, unless otherwise stipulated by the Board.
- requires the University to provide the Board with an annual report on programs with a low number of degrees/certificates of achievement, a task which is carried out by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Strategy (OVPAS).
- requires the University to provide the Board with an annual report of program reviews (of established programs) conducted within the last year, a task which is carried out by the OVPAS.
- requires the University to provide the Board with an annual report on all terminated programs, a task which is carried out by the OVPAS.
UH Executive Policy 5.202, Review of Established Programs additionally:
- charges the Chancellors of the four-year institutions and the Vice President for Community Colleges (for the UHCC campuses) to develop the program review procedures and schedules for their campuses.
- calls for each campus to archive its program reviews and furnish upon request.
- calls for the Office of the President to annually report stop-outs of established programs.
Review Process
Mānoa
Five-year review process with self-study, external review, and final reporting. Colleges are reviewed on a rotating review schedule including all departments.
Hilo
Five-year review process with self-study, external review, and final reporting. Departments are reviewed on a rotating schedule.
West Oʻahu
Seven-year review process with self-study, external review, and final reporting. Programs are reviewed on a rotating review schedule.
Community Colleges
Comprehensive review occurs every five years in alignment with UHCC EP 5.202 that includes an annual reporting requirement via the Annual Review of Program Data (ARDP) process.
