Description: | Footage filmed in the riverflats and lower foothills of Mekeo District in the West Central Division of Papua. Shows native life in Mekeo villages: men smoking the bao bao pipe, the making of rope for bird snares, the weaving of baskets and skirts from coconut fronds, the preparation of foodstuffs, people cultivating the land, courtship and marriage rituals, dances, and musicians. Includes segments of footage similar in content to those used in the J E Ward film The Quest for the Blue Bird of Paradise. |
