Description:Records the construction of the wakataua, Tahere Tikitiki, a Maori war canoe. Designed and built under the supervision of kaumatua and master carver Piri Poutapu. Tahere Tikitiki took eighteen months to complete. This film traces the building process from the felling of the trees to the ceremonial first launch. Progress on the construction is seen against the uninterrupted pattern of life on the marae.
