The University of Hawaiʻi Bands will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a gala and concert, marking the program’s final 100th anniversary events in the 2023–24 academic year.

100th anniversary gala

The 100-year anniversary gala will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the UH Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom. More than 150 alumni, donors and proud supporters of the program will be in attendance. There will be food, drinks, performances, special guests and more. Tickets are sold out, but donations are still welcome on the UH Bands’ UH Foundation page.

100th anniversary concert

A special edition of the bands’ annual Aloha Concert will mark the program’s 100th anniversary on Sunday, April 28, beginning at 4 p.m. at McKinley High School’s M.M. Scott Auditorium. Concert program:

  • 4 p.m.: Concert Band and Symphonic Band
  • 5:30 p.m.: Reception (free for ticket holders)
  • 7 p.m.: Wind Ensemble and special alumni band

The concert will include guest conductors and performers (including taiko drum musician Kenny Endo, local singer/songwriter Raiatea Helm and jazz trombonist Nathan Tanouye), and a 100-piece alumni band premiering a new piece written to mark the milestone.

Tickets are available online.
