WHAT: Approximately 300 middle school students from across Oʻahu will visit the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa College of Engineering to compete in various games hosted by UH Mānoa engineering clubs and honor societies. Some of the games include: brushbot relays, circuit puzzles, egg drop, popsicle stick bridge building and more.

WHY: The UH Mānoa College of Engineering is dedicated to world-class education and research, and produces the entrepreneurial and innovative human and intellectual capital required to be competitive in an increasingly technological and global society. The college strives to inspire these young students to be the leaders of tomorrow. The Middle School Engineering Showdown serves as a platform to nurture young minds, encourage their interest in STEM fields, and lay the foundation for future academic and professional success in engineering and related disciplines.

WHEN: Friday, March 8 from 9 a.m. - noon (games will take place 9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony and lunch)

WHERE: Holmes Hall, UH Mānoa College of Engineering

WHO: Middle school students and teachers, and UH Mānoa students, faculty and staff
