Albie Miles

Albie Miles, University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu assistant professor of sustainable community food systems, has been invited to join the 2017–2018 inaugural Food Policy Leadership Institute at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

As a graduate fellow in the program, Miles will travel to George Washington University during the summer of 2018. There he will study U.S. federal and state-level food and agriculture policy with the objective of using this training to advance state and federal legislation in support of ecological sustainability, equity and human health.

The George Washington Food Policy Institute is led by Kathleen Merrigan, former U.S. Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture during the Obama Administration. In 2010, Merrigan was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

Food Policy Institute’s objectives are to develop a cadre of leaders who bring new voices to the table with sophisticated knowledge of how to advance food and agriculture policy in the public interest.
