This summer is jam packed with visually spectacular shows at Windward Community College’s Hōkūlani Imaginarium.

Shows

  • Tales of the Maya Skies (May 29 at 7 p.m.): Tales of the Maya Skies recreates the splendor of Mayan architecture and astronomy. Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee Lila Downs narrates this magnificent journey through Mayan cities and temples aligned to the movements of the Sun, Moon and planets. Rediscover the treasures of this advanced civilization whose sophisticated mathematics predicted eclipses, forecast seasonal change and formulated a calendar of extraordinary precision.
  • Sounds of the Underground (May 29 at 8:15 p.m.): Sounds of the Underground combines techno, dance, club and rave styles with a variety of artistic full-dome animations. The show is a dancing experience for the eyes! The set includes selections from Stardust, Dirty Vegas, Karen Overton, Zombie Nation, High Contrast and more.
  • Magic Tree House Space Mission (June 20 at 2 p.m.): Based on the popular children’s books, a mysterious “M” sends the intrepid Jack and Annie on a fun-filled journey to discover the secrets of the Sun, Moon, planets, space travel and more.
  • Stars (June 20 at 3 p.m.): Every star has a story. Some are as old as time, faint and almost forgotten. Others burn bright and end their lives in powerful explosions. New stars are created every day, born of vast clouds of gas and dust. Through every phase of their existence, stars release the energy that powers the universe. Journey to the farthest reaches of our galaxy and experience both the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars.
  • Perfect Little Planet (TBA): Discover the solar system through a new set of eyes—a family from another star system seeking the perfect vacation spot. Fly over the surface of Pluto, dive over the ice cliffs of Miranda, sail through the rings of Saturn, feel the lightening storms of Jupiter, and walk on the surface of Mars in Perfect Little Planet.
