Senior Catherine Belyakov, from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa swim team, claimed Big West Athlete of the Week honors after her outstanding performance at the USC Invitational, October 12–13.
Belyakov made an immediate impact with the Rainbow Wahine, earning multiple top-10 times in program history. Belyakov posted the fourth-fastest time and finished in second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:17.97, and swam the sixth fastest time in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:00.78 finishing in third.
She also earned UH’s first victory in individual competition this season, winning the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.17. In total, Belyakov earned top-three finishes in four individual events this past weekend.
