Windward Community College welcomes fall with the 13th Annual Windward Hoʻolaulea: A Homegrown Celebration on Saturday, September 28, 10 a.m.
The free, family-friendly event features 68 unique arts and crafts booths, ʻono ethnic food, keiki rides and activities, art exhibits, a college-sponsored silent auction and educational displays. Entertainment includes Brother Noland and his band, Kapena, Hiʻikua, Pila Nahenahe, Hawaiʻi Loa, Chinky Mahoe’s hālau hula and more.
The festival, co-sponsored by the college and the Kāneʻohe Business Group, is expected to draw more than 10,000 people islandwide.
Proceeds from the Windward Hoʻolaulea will fund scholarships for Windward CC students and other program support. Last year, more than 25 Windward Community College students received $1,000 each from event proceeds. Kāneʻohe Business Group members will be there to showcase their businesses at a trade show, and Windward Community College will have special tours to the Bioprocessing Medicinal Plant Garden and cultural demonstrations highlighting the new Hawaiian studies AA degree program.
Festivities will take place under the giant banyan trees on the Great Lawn of the Windward campus.
