Women's beach volleyball players with coach.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s beach volleyball pair Pani Napoleon and Jaime Santer placed in a tie for ninth at the AVCA Collegiate Beach West Coast Qualifier in California. With that finish, the duo secured a spot in next month’s AVCA Collegiate Beach Pairs National Championship.

The duo won four of eight matches in the Gold Bracket in a successful reunion for the pair. Napoleon, a three-year letterwinner at UH, returned to Mānoa this fall to team up once again with Santer who enters her senior season. The tandem earned all-Big West honors together in 2021, before Napoleon spent the next two seasons at UCLA.

In all, UH had seven pairs entered in three divisions (gold, silver, bronze) during the three-day qualifier. The beach ‘Bows went a combined 18-36 during the weekend.

The 2023 AVCA Collegiate Beach Pairs National Championship will be held November 3–5 in Alabama. Santer will be making her second straight appearance in the nationals after competing with Kylin Loker in last year’s inaugural event.
