University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo women’s basketball player Mandi Kawaha and baseball player Bradyn Yoshida earned KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week honors for February 8–21.

In the final stretch of the women’s basketball season, Kawaha became the Vulcans’ new all-time career leading scorer after dropping 30 points in a home game win against Holy Names University. She became No. 2 all-time for 3-pointers and free throws and also set the new program single-season mark for field goals. The fifth-year senior was also recently named PacWest Conference Player of the Week for February 6–12.

In a three-game series against Northwest Nazarene University, Yoshida posted four hits, three RBI, two steals, six runs scored and six putouts in center field. In the opening game on February 9, Yoshida scored the Vulcans’ first run and the game-tying score. In the third game on February 10, he drove in the game-winning runs on a two-RBI single.

The KTA Superstars award names one male and one female UH Hilo student-athlete each week, highlighting their accomplishments from the prior week.
