This week’s UH News Image of the Week comes from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa PhD candidate in marine biology Daniela Escontrela.
During a research dive, Escontrela noticed two squid hanging out under the boat.

“They stuck around for a few hours and we were able to take some amazing photos and watched as they changed color,” she said.
For her PhD research, Escontrela is studying the cushion star, a coral-eating sea star, and its predator the Triton’s trumpet, a large marine snail.
