This message was shared with the faculty and staff of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa on October 20, 2020.

Aloha,

As described in my October 13 message, the UH Mānoa Budget Team has been meeting with faculty and staff of departments that were highly impacted by the team’s original suggestions to discuss the ideas presented and to explore additional or alternative ways to achieve our shared goal of positioning the University for the financial challenges we face while strengthening our capacity to support our students and our community.

As a result of these meetings and follow-up discussions, we have made significant changes to our original recommendations. We have posted the revised suggestions on the Planning for Post-Pandemic Hawaiʻi website.

We will post the summaries of our meetings with faculty and staff as the notes are completed. These summaries will also appear on the Planning for Post-Pandemic Hawaiʻi website.

This update of our continuing work together reaffirms our commitment to collaborative and shared governance in charting a path forward for UH Mānoa. This work is also being guided by additional ongoing consultation with UHPA, HGEA, UPW, the UH Mānoa Faculty Senate, the UH Mānoa Staff Senate, Kūaliʻi Council, ASUH and GSO via twice monthly meetings.

E mālama pono,
Michael Bruno
UH Mānoa Provost
