The University of Hawaiʻi has developed an online COVID-19 safety training program for all employees, including RCUH employees, and an informational video for students who have to come onto campus. Both are based on the interim UH COVID-19 Guidelines, and the campus-specific COVID-19 guidelines, as well as federal, state and local guidance.
The employee training program includes a general overview of COVID-19, control measures to prevent or minimize transmission, and other specific procedures and resources for UH employees to utilize in order to stay safe and healthy on campus. It is divided into segments and will take about 30 minutes to complete.
The student video is about five minutes long and explains what is required of everyone who comes to campus, along with tips on how to keep themselves and others safe.
“I urge everyone to take this training as soon as possible, even if you are currently teleworking and expect to telework for the remainder of the year,” said UH President David Lassner in an email to UH employees. “You and everyone around you will be safer if you are updated on the latest and most accurate information about COVID-19. We also want to ensure that our entire ʻohana has a clear understanding of all of the mandatory requirements for coming to any UH campus.”
COVID-19 safety training is required by the Hawaiʻi Occupational Safety and Health Division for the purpose of informing employees of the hazards of COVID-19 and the measures that are being taken to promote health and safety.
