The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Athletics Department displayed academic excellence in a newly recorded all-time high Academic Performance Rate (APR) for the school in the 2018–19 school year.
UH Mānoa scored a 984 out of 1,000 in figures released by the NCAA on May 19, surpassing the campus’ previous high last year of 981 and scoring above the national average of 983 for the first time. The department also had a record 11 of 18 teams post perfect single-year scores of 1,000 during the 2018–19 academic year, eclipsing the previous high of nine set two years ago.
“I’m pleased with the overall trajectory of our APR scores, including a record amount of teams who had perfect single-year scores,” UH Athletics Director David Matlin said. “This is a testament to the work our student-athletes put in the classroom and their commitment to academics.”
Men’s swimming and diving posted a perfect multiyear score of 1,000 and earned NCAA Public Recognition for being in the top 10 of their respective sport. In addition, 13 teams posted multiyear scores of 980 or higher, with two Warrior teams and three Wahine teams recording their highest multiyear scores ever.
Among the UH Mānoa teams that posted perfect single-year scores included five of seven men’s sports and six of the 11 women’s sports.
