The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Department of Dental Hygiene has donated much-needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to The Queen’s Medical Center for the care of COVID-19 patients. The donated items included cone masks, earloop masks, gloves, gowns and bouffant caps.
“Donating PPE to our frontline healthcare providers is just a small way that we can play a role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kristine Osada, dental hygiene program administrator and instructor. ““We encourage anyone with excess PPE to donate it. UH Mānoa dental hygiene wants to thank all of our medical providers responding to this crisis.”
The Queen’s Dental Clinic has been affiliated with the UH Mānoa dental hygiene program and its students for more than 25 years. As the only baccalaureate-level program in the state, students receive valuable hospital dentistry experience by assisting and observing dentists, dental residents and dental hygienists in the clinic.
