Architectural/engineering and construction management firm Bowers + Kubota Consulting donated $75,000 to support the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa College of Engineering Asphalt and Pavements Lab Fund. In recognition of this gift, classroom 244 at the college will be named after Bowers + Kubota.
College of Engineering Dean Brennon Morioka said, “Asphalt and pavements are key components in our infrastructure. Our students ask the questions, and find solutions to issues like how we evaluate the condition and extend the life of roadways and pavements so that we can keep roads in better condition over longer periods of time at a reduced cost.”

Through partnerships like this, we can enhance our students’ educational experience as they become the highly skilled engineers our state needs to maintain and improve Hawaiʻi’s critical infrastructure.”
Since Bowers + Kubota’s establishment in 1980, they have completed numerous projects of varying scale and complexity throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Rim. They have received a multitude of honors and awards for their work including being selected in 2019 as the No.1 engineering firm to work for in the United States. The firm is also a 12-time winner of Hawaiʻi’s Best Places to Work.
