water polo season title

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s water polo team is ranked third and fourth in the national polls and was crowned outright Big West regular-season champions after a 14-4 win over Cal State Fullerton on April 13.

Ema Vernoux, Bernadette Doyle and Jordan Wedderburn led the Rainbow Wahine with three goals each, and UH set a program record with its 15th consecutive regular-season conference win while completing an undefeated run through the Big West schedule for the second straight year.

UH closed out the regular season with a commanding win, powered by a first-half scoring burst that saw seven players contribute to a 10-2 halftime lead. Vernoux notched her 16th hat trick of the season and enters the postseason with a team-high 69 goals—seventh-most in program history.

Wedderburn recorded her 12th hat trick and moved into 10th on UH’s career scoring list with 151 goals. Bernadette Doyle tallied her 11th hat trick, opening the game with two quick scores and later adding assists to her sister Gabrielle Doyle and Wedderburn.

UH will begin its Big West title defense on April 25, against No. 8 seed UC Irvine at the Anteater Aquatics Complex in California.
