After a massive weekend at Cal State Northridge (CSUN), University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa baseball player Kamana Nahaku was recognized with both Golden Spikes Award National Player of the Week honors and Big West Player of the Week.
Nahaku became the first player in UH history to receive the Golden Spikes National Player of the Week recognition. He is also the first UH player to earn any form of national player of the week honor since 2021.
Over the three-game series against CSUN, Nahaku hit five home runs, including a record-tying three in the March 30 finale, becoming just the sixth player in UH history to do so. He also hit a go-ahead grand slam in the March 29 series-tying win and two solo homers plus a two-run shot in the March 30 14-10 series-clinching victory.
Earlier in the week, Nahaku helped UH to a 9-8 extra-innings win over UH Hilo with a game-tying infield single in the ninth inning.
His five homers in the CSUN series brought his season average to .348, and he is tied for the Big West lead with six home runs. Nahaku is the only Big West player this season to hit three homers in a game and the first Rainbow Warrior since 2015 to homer in three consecutive games.
