cooper walls on the field

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa baseball player Cooper Walls earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors on March 17 after his dominant effort on the mound during the March 14 series-clinching 1-0 shutout victory over No. 15 UC Santa Barbara.

The freshman threw seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, striking out three and walking two. He did not allow a runner to advance past second base and set down eight in a row at one point from the fifth through seventh innings.

Walls became the first UH freshman to earn the honor since 2013. He has not allowed a run in his last 11 innings pitched in Big West play, helping secure the Rainbow Warriors’ first series win over a ranked opponent since 2010.
