University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa softball player Milan Ah Yat was voted Big West Field Player of the Week on March 3 after leading the Rainbow Wahine with a .529 batting average in the OUTRIGGER Invitational. This is the sophomore transfer’s first conference weekly honor.
Ah Yat led UH with nine hits, a 1.059 slugging percentage, a .600 on-base percentage and she was tied with a team-best four runs scored and three home runs. Ah Yat hit safely in all six games and against Jackson State on February 27 went for a career-high 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run.
Against Howard on March 1, Ah Yat recorded her second walk-off hit this season. She drove in UH‘s eighth run with a single in the sixth to defeat the Bison 8-0 in six innings.
Ah Yat leads Hawaiʻi with a .368 average (21-for-57) and is tied with Jamie McGaughey with a team-high 15 RBI. Ah Yat has four doubles, four home runs and 13 walks for the season.
