Four athletes from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on December 17, in recognition of their performance on the court and in the classroom.
Seniors Tayli Ikenaga and Kate Lang, and sophomores Stella Adeyemi and Tali Hakas represented UH on the Division I list after helping the ‘Bows capture the Big West title and reach the NCAA Tournament for the 31st consecutive season.
Ikenaga started all 31 matches and was named Big West Libero of the Year and MVP at the Big West Championship, leading the conference with 502 digs. Lang also started all 31 matches, earning Big West Setter of the Year and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Pacific Region Honorable Mention after recording 1,314 assists.
Adeyemi tallied 250 kills, and Hakas earned All-Big West Honorable Mention with 259 kills and 364 digs.
The academic qualification for the Academic All-District teams is a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the season’s games or started in 66% of the games.
