University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s basketball guard Daejah Phillips earned the season’s first Big West Player of the Week award on November 11, after leading the Rainbow Wahine during their road trip in the Pacific Northwest.
Phillips averaged 15 points per game while shooting 47.1% in UH’s trip to Portland and Portland State to open the season. The senior also came up with seven rebounds, three assists and five steals, and earned the Big West’s weekly award for the third time in her career.
The senior scored 19 points in the season opener at Portland on November 7 and went 11 for 11 from the free-throw line to help UH set a program record with a 25 for 25 performance.
Phillips previously won the Big West Player of the Week award twice last season on her way to earning first team All-Big West honors and the conference’s Best Sixth Player award.
The Rainbow Wahine (1-1) return to action in the Bank of Hawaiʻi Classic set for November 22 and 24 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
