The No. 21 University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo women’s soccer team clinched a spot in the inaugural Pacific West Conference Championships with a shutout of Fresno Pacific, 3-0, on November 2 at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
Players Teani Arakawa, Jazlynn Ellis and Shea Christiansen scored for the Vulcans in the victory to secure UH Hilo one of the four qualifying spots for the conference postseason tournament.
“We’ve been putting in the work to put ourselves in the position we want to be to battle for another championship,” head coach Gene Okamura said. “The team bounced back well from our last game and now we know we’ll have much more to go, but we’ll get back to work next week and focus on preparing for Chaminade to finish the regular season.”
UH Hilo moved to an 8-1-1 record in the PacWest and 11-1-3 overall. Currently, the Vulcans hold the top position in the standings with 25 points and just one match to go.
