University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo men’s soccer goalkeeper Paul Waschkau was named Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week on October 28. Additionally, the Vulcans earned Team of the Week honors after going 2-0-1 in Southern California.
Making his fourth start of the season, Waschkau began the week with a six-save outing in a 2-1 win over Azusa Pacific University. The junior transfer posted a 2-0-1 record with a shutout and 10 total saves during the week.
UH Hilo had a stellar road trip to keep their postseason hopes alive. The Vulcans kicked off the trip with a thrilling 2-1 win over Azusa Pacific. Against Biola University on October 24, the Vulcans clinched a 2-0 win. At Westmont College, the Vulcans turned a potential loss into a tie.
