Alexander, Lang and Big West player of the week graphic

Coming off a sweep of its first conference road trip of the season, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s volleyball team picked up two Big West Player of the Week awards on October 7.

UH outside hitter Caylen Alexander was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, and Kate Lang earned the Setter of the Week award for the second time in her senior season and the 13th time in her career.

After missing a match for the first time this season, Alexander returned to the action and put away 42 kills—averaging 5.25 per set—while hitting .405 over 74 total attempts in UH‘s wins at UC San Diego and Long Beach State. Alexander continues to lead the Big West with 5.00 kills per set and 5.51 points per set. She ranks third nationally with 290 total kills and is tied for third in kills per set. She’s also fourth in total points (319.5) and sixth in points per set (5.51).

Lang distributed 76 assists, averaging 9.50 per set, on the road trip and moved up to fifth in program history with 3,822 for her career. She ranks second in the Big West with 592 total assists and third with 9.55 assists per set.

The Rainbow Wahine enter the week among six teams tied for first in the Big West and return to SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center for a two-match homestand. The Rainbow Wahine face UC Davis on October 11 at 7 p.m. and UC Riverside (5-12, 0-4) on October 13 at 5 p.m.
