nalani damacion on the field

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s soccer midfielder Nalani Damacion has earned her second Big West Freshman of the Week honors this season after her performance at Portland State on September 14.

Damacion delivered the game-winning goal in UH‘s 2-1 victory, scoring off of a failed clear attempt in the 85th minute to put the ‘Bows in front. The freshman fired off four shot attempts in her 63 minutes on the field in her eighth consecutive start.

The midfielder has scored the game-winner in all three of the Rainbow Wahine victories so far this season and is one of just three freshmen nationally with at least three game-winning goals. Damacion is also tied for the Big West lead in game-winners and is tied for fourth in the conference in total goals.

Damacion is the second UH player to earn Big West Freshman of the Week honors multiple times in a season. She also took home conference freshman of the week honors following the opening week of the season when she put away a game-winning goal against Georgia Southern.
