three football players

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa quarterback Brayden Schager, linebacker Jamih Otis and return specialist Tylan Hines received Mountain West Player of the Week honors following the 35-14 season-opening victory over Delaware State.

All three players helped UH win its first season-opener since 2020. The Rainbow Warriors scored the final 21 points in the game to extend their win streak over an Football Championship Subdivision opponent to 21 straight.

Schager passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more, which was the seventh time a UH quarterback accomplished the feat since 2000. Hines’ 44-yard punt return for a touchdown was UH’s first in 12 years while Otis led the team with a career-high 11 tackles in his first career start at middle linebacker.
