U H Magazine cover, people playing instruments

When Maui’s community needed help most, the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College opened its doors—and its heart. For months it was the central hub for food and disaster relief for UH Maui College’s students, faculty, staff and neighbors.

“It’s who we are,” said Lui Hokoana, UH Maui College chancellor. “We respond collectively to crisis.”

“United for Maui” is the cover story in this summer’s issue of the University of Hawaiʻi Magazine for alumni and friends of UH. Also in this issue:

  • Alumni Jaimie and Reece Farinas send aloha across the country with Hawaiʻi Lei Stand, the company they launched together.
  • Murals and sculpture inspire learning, community and innovation on UH campuses.
  • Robyn Ah Mow and Heather Bown are enshrined in the USA Volleyball Hall of Fame.
  • A Hawaiian monk seal project examines the endangered species’ vocalizations.
  • Updates from UH alumni around the state and around the world.

University of Hawaiʻi Magazine, published by PacificBasin Communications in partnership with the UH Foundation, annually highlights alumni accomplishments and news from UH’s 10 campuses.
