Sculptor at work

This week’s UH News Image of the Week is sculptor and alumnus Bumpei Akaji when he was a student at UH Mānoa in 1952 as he worked in Hemenway Hall.

One of Akaji’s sculptures “RISE,” was installed outside the Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center, and dedicated in a special ceremony prior to the official grand opening of the center on June 15.
