The University of Hawaiʻi football team placed 12 members on the Athlon Preseason All-Mountain West team, including four on the first two teams.
Steven McBride was chosen for the first team while Brayden Schager, Pofele Ashlock, and Jalen Smith were named to the second team.
Five others were picked to the third team—Luke Felix-Fualalo, Ezra Evaimalo, Logan Taylor, Cam Stone, and Peter Manuma—while three others were named to the fourth team—Tylan Hines, Dion Washington and Virdel Edwards II.
McBride and Ashlock were the team’s top two leading receivers in 2023, combining for 146 receptions for 1,856 yards and 18 touchdowns. Schager led the Mountain West in passing, 3,542 yards and 26 touchdowns in his first season in the run-and-shoot offense. Smith started the final eight games of the season and finished third on the team in 67 tackles along with a team-leading nine tackles-for-loss.
Felix-Fualalo was graded as the No. 3 tackle in the Mountain West last season according to Pro Football Focus, and Evaimalo was No. 2 interior lineman. Washington was ranked No. 4 interior lineman last season.
Manuma led the team in 87 tackles and three interceptions, and Stone has earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors all three seasons in the league, twice at Wyoming and last season at UH. Edwards started 22 games at cornerback over the last two seasons.
