University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo softball player Chenoa Cainglit and golfer Dylan Bercan were named the KTA Super Stores Superstars for May for their stand-out accomplishments.

Chenoa Cainglit

Cainglit was batting .106 on just three hits heading into the Pacific West Conference Championships but emerged as one of the Vulcans’ many hot-hitting bats.

In an elimination game against Biola University, Cainglit blasted a full-count RBI triple high off the right-center field fence to give the Vulcans the lead in the top of the eighth. The catcher later scored to give UH Hilo a two-run cushion for an 8-5 victory in 11 innings. In the following game, Cainglit knocked a solo homer off the right-center-field scoreboard in the fifth inning to give the Vulcans their first run of the game against Azusa Pacific University.

Dylan Bercan

Bercan followed up his outing at the PacWest Conference Championships with a top-10 finish among the 108-field of golfers at the NCAA South Central/West Regional.

After a five-over round 1 score, Bercan shot up 50 spots on the individual leaderboard before settling at a tie for No. 10 after rounds of 68 and 67 for a two-under final finish.

Bercan carded 13 total birdies as the back-to-back PacWest Conference Champions placed 16th.
