University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa high jumper Lilian Turban turned in a 10th-place finish to earn second-team All-America status in her first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9.
Turban cleared the bar at 1.85m (6-0.75) on her second attempt at that height to secure a top-10 national finish. A 2023 outdoor high jump All-American, Turban turned in just the fifth top 10 finish ever by a UH athlete at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
She cleared the first height of 1.75m (5-8.75) on her first attempt before getting past the next two heights (1.80m and 1.85m) on her second try. Turban then had three cracks at setting a personal best at 1.88m (6-2.00) but came up just short of clearing and securing points as a part of the top eight.
Turban qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships despite missing the first half of the indoor season due to an injury. She is just the third Rainbow Wahine athlete to compete at the indoor national championships, joining Annett Wichmann (2007–09) and Amber Kaufman (2009–10).
