University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa guard Daejah Phillips was named the Big West women’s basketball Player of the Week on February 26 following a career-best performance against Long Beach State over the weekend.

Phillips scored a career-high 29 points while posting one of the most productive and efficient shooting performances in program history in UH‘s 80-68 road win over the Beach on February 25 at the Walter Pyramid and earned the Big West honor for the second time in the last four weeks.

Phillips went 12 for 14 (85.7%) from the field, falling one made basket short of the UH single-game record for field-goal percentage. She went into halftime of Saturday’s game with seven points on 3-for-4 shooting. She then made her first nine shots of the second half in a 22-point outburst. She scored 16 points in the fourth quarter alone to help UH hold off the Beach and remain in first place in the Big West race.

Her 12 made field goals is the highest single-game total in the Big West this season, all coming in 19 minutes, 41 seconds of playing time off the bench. She drew six fouls and went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and also finished with four rebounds and two steals.
