For the second straight meet a Hawaiʻi track and field athlete earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Athlete of the Week honors as junior Lilian Turban took home the recognition after picking up a win in the high jump and setting a personal record in the shot put at the Husky Classic.
Turban took her place among the national leaders in the high jump after reaching a mark of 1.84m (6-0.5) in Seattle on Friday. She moved into No. 18 nationally in the indoor high jump this year while improving upon her already second-best mark in program history.
The Estonia native then set a personal best in the shot put on Saturday with a toss of 13.29m (43-7.25), coming in sixth place.
She joins teammate Alyssa Mae Antolin as Rainbow Wahine athletes who have taken home the weekly honor this year. It’s the first time that Turban has earned MPSF Athlete of the Week honors and the fifth time in her career that she’s gotten a conference weekly honor, with four Big West Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week awards.
