University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s senior Elma Lund placed third in the women’s platform to highlight the final day of the Bruin Diving Invitational for the Rainbow Wahine and Rainbow Warrior diving teams on January 14, in Los Angeles.
Lund posted a score of 239.00 in the preliminaries to place third out of 48 divers competing in the event at UCLA‘s Spieker Aquatic Center. She was among the 12 divers who advanced to the final and finished with a total of 474.35 to remain third.
Senior Mackaby Pennington closed the weekend with a seventh-place finish in the men’s 1 meter. Pennington was ninth after the preliminary round with a score of 294.95 and jumped into seventh in the final with a total of 627.95. Senior Juan Gonzalez finished ninth in the 18-diver final with a total of 625.70.
The Rainbow Wahine and Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship February 12–14, in Mission Viejo, California.
