Early signing football announcement

The University of Hawaiʻi football program welcomed a diverse and talented group of 14 recruits from the Class of 2024 during the early signing period. The roster includes eight offensive and six defensive players, with seven recruits hailing from Hawaiʻi.

Among the additions is Micah Alejado, a quarterback from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, who led his team to a national title with an impressive high school career record of 9,233 yards and 125 touchdowns. Locally, defensive ends Nazaiah Caravallo and Noah Wily, both top 20 prospects in Hawaiʻi, bring defensive prowess to the Rainbow Warriors.

More of the state’s top high school prospects inked with UH. Tristan Waiamau-Galindo excelled at Kamehameha Schools-Kapālama, recording 12.5 sacks as a senior, showcasing his defensive prowess. Frank Kahoa Abreu of Kamehameha Schools-Maui impressed with 1,846 career receiving yards as a tight end. Punahou School’s Tuʻi Muti earned the Olin Kreutz Award for the state’s lineman of the year, anchoring the offensive line. Teammate Alika Cavaco-Amoy, a linebacker, was a defensive standout for Punahou. Joshua Tavui played a crucial role at Campbell, anchoring the offensive line for the state’s top passing offense over two seasons. Together, these athletes made significant contributions to their teams, leaving a lasting impact on Hawaiʻi‘s high school football landscape.

The recruiting class also includes talents like Dion Washington, a defensive lineman with Mountain West experience, running back Christian Vaughn from Butte College, and versatile wide receiver Armando Lewis Jr. The familial connection is evident in wide receiver Jarvis Heimuli, the younger brother of UH receiver Pofele Ashlock, a freshman All-American in 2023.

UH also welcomed Jay Tauala-Harris, a top offensive line prospect from California, and Alvin Puefua, Utah’s top-ranked defensive line prospect. The recruits promise an exciting future for UH football as they bring a mix of local talent, national standouts and a touch of family legacy to the Rainbow Warriors.
