Grinch cart competitionAlmost 300 University of Hawaiʻi Maui College students, faculty and staff and their families enjoyed some holiday cheer at the Lā ʻOhana, Embracing Family event on December 1.

Person getting a massageʻOno (delicious) foods included Hawaiian plates,tofu veggie bowls, popcorn, shave ice and waffle dogs. Guests made ipu succulent bowls and scent rollers and got some TLC from the poetry pharmacy and from lomi (massage), facials and brow waxing. Families enjoyed riding the lift and playing games.

There was a decorated golf cart parade and contest. The winning “Grinch for President!” cart was styled by Professor Thomas Hussey, Nā Pua Noʻeau Site Coordinator Ohua Morando, Upward Bound Academic Advisor Laura Lala Johnson, Upward Bound Program Assistant Jennifer Benitez, their student assistants and Professor Joyce Yamada.

Another highlight was the student art exhibit, currently on display on the ground floor of the library. The winners included:
