President David Lassner announced an anonymous donation to extend the one-year scholarship to Lahainaluna High School students who have been impacted by the devastating August 8 wildfire. The update was part of the president’s report at the monthly Board of Regents meeting held at Kauaʻi Community College on October 19.

Lassner also explained UH’s extensive involvement in the state’s broadband initiative and announced two recently awarded federal grants to UH—$6.6 million to UH Hilo to establish a National Native Language Resource Center and $10.9 million to establish the UH Pacific Center for Genome Research.
