Womenʻs indoor and beach volleyball team.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its Team Academic Awards for the 2022–23 academic year with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s indoor and beach teams both earning recognition for the third straight season.

The UH Mānoa indoor and beach squads are among more than 1,300 teams to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award. The U.S. Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams (men/women, boys/girls, indoor/beach) that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA.

The Beach Bows had a 3.62 average during the school year, while the indoor team maintained a 3.54 team GPA. UH Mānoa is one of only two Big West teams, along with California State University Bakersfield, to be recognized by the AVCA for their indoor and beach volleyball teams.

The beach volleyball team is coming off a 2023 spring campaign in which it earned its sixth NCAA bid and a top 10 national ranking. The indoor team claimed its third-straight Big West title and advanced to its 40th NCAA Tournament last season. They will open its 2023 season hosting the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic, August 25–27 with Northwestern, San Diego and Oregon all opening their 2023 campaign in Honolulu.
