For the second time this season, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa men’s volleyball player Spyros Chakas was named Big West Player of the Week following his performance in UH’s two-match sweep of Concordia University Irvine.
The outside hitter averaged 4.29 kills per set, hitting .441 in the series. He also averaged 1.86 digs and 0.86 blocks per set and tallied three aces. In the series opener on February 16, he had 16 kills and hit .424 with two aces, six digs and three blocks. In the rematch on February 17, he had a team-high 14 kills and hit .462 with one ace, seven digs and three blocks.
Chakas leads the team with a 4.29 kills per set average which ranks No. 5 nationally. He has reached double figures in kills in seven of nine matches this season.
The No. 1 ranked Rainbow Warriors continue their five-week homestand with a pair of matches against Long Island University on February 22 and 24.
