U H volleyball player Kurt Nusterer with Big West Freshman of the Week graphic

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa volleyball player Kurt Nusterer received the Big West’s Freshman of the Week award after his performances last week in the Rainbow Warriors’ trip to North Carolina, January 25–28.

The middle blocker averaged 2.2 kills and 0.8 blocks per set and hit .714 clip with 11 kills in 14 attempts. He made his first career start against Barton College and recorded career-highs of seven kills and three blocks. He did not commit an attack error in eight attempts.

Nusterer also recorded four kills in two sets played against Belmont Abbey College. He served one ace in each of the two matches.
