This week’s UH News Image of the Week is from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Dani Bartz, a PhD student in marine biology and a graduate assistant for the Hawaiʻi Community Tagging Program (HCTP), working with local fishers to safely tag these and other sharks with acoustic, satellite and ID tags.
Bartz shared “Oceanic whitetip shark off the Kona coast. The HCTP has become a successful community-based research project with hundreds of tags deployed and photo ID submissions by local fishers and tour boats.” Bartz’ friend Kayleigh Grant took this picture during that day’s dive.
